The Brownstone School, New York

A little over a month after the publication of my first book, Zilbo's Forest: What's Up With That, I had the chance to visit a preschool class at The Brownstone School over Zoom!

I read them the story and then opened the floor for questions. It was so much fun seeing kids react to the book for the very first time. They were excellent listeners and had some truly great questions.

Some wanted to know how I came up with the story. Others were curious about how the characters got their names. A few had very practical questions like, “How did you make the front of the book?” and “How did you make the back?” And of course, the logical next question: “How did you make the sides?”

Explaining the book making process in preschool terms turned out to be a fun challenge, but I think we figured it out together.

The best part was hearing that all of the kids like to draw pictures and make up stories too. I’m looking forward to reading their books someday!

Thanks for having me, Brownstone School!
